Michael Mates, Esq.
Michael brings roughly two decades of legal experience to Whittel and Melton. He is a graduate of Florida State University College of Law where he served in various leadership roles, including president of the Student Bar Association. Michael began his legal career in southwest Florida with one of the largest personal injury firms in the State. He operated his own firm in Ft. Lauderdale, handling both personal injury and civil litigation matters before relocating to the Tampa Bay/Spring Hill area. At Whittel and Melton, he focuses on representing clients in the pre-litigation phase of their personal injury claims, acting as a strong advocate against insurance companies. Michael places great importance on maintaining a personal connection with clients and keeping them informed throughout their personal injury claims. In addition to Florida, Michael is admitted to practice law in the states of New York and North Carolina. In his leisure time he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including kayaking and snorkeling. He is also involved with a number of civic and charitable organizations.
